This Android 4K satellite receiver, we have specially developed for the Canal Digitaal / TV Vlaanderen user. User-friendliness was number 1 again.
From the moment you start up the receiver, you will be guided to the Fastscan in a few super-logical steps.
The Fastscan is ready in 5-10 (!) seconds, and you can start watching TV.

Bluetooth remote control with TV learning function
One of the steps to be taken after starting up is the so-called ‘pairing’ of the Bluetooth remote control. So you then connect the remote control to the receiver.
The advantage of a Bluetooth RCU is that you no longer have to point it at the receiver for operation. IR (Infra Red) remote controls, on the other hand, should always be pointed directly at a box.
This ‘8401’ receiver is therefore also ideal for installation in a cabinet, which is often done in a camper, caravan or boat. The receiver can then continue to be operated via BT.
With our TV learning procedure, you teach this RCU a number of basic functions via your original TV remote control, to operate your TV.

CAM803 support
The big advantage of the RE-8401UHD S-PVR is that it can be used with the latest CI+ module, the CAM803 (in addition to the CAM701 and the Multistream module), and that you can watch and record TV with this module at the same time!
This feature, plus Android, plus 4K, plus the fact that your recordings (as one file) on a Micro SD Card can also be played on a tablet, for example, and the great user-friendliness, so that you don’t have to take a course for 3 weeks first 😉 make this into a unique satellite receiver.

Prepared for the future
NOTE!
In connection with the Canal Digitaal/TV Vlaanderen announcement, that a smartcard in a card reader will (step by step) cease to work (due to heavier coding), we have made this ‘8401’ suitable for the modules mentioned. This makes the ‘8401’ future-proof.
A working card reader is therefore not available, because that seems to be useless, in (short) term!
So if you only have a plastic smartcard, you need a Multistream module into which you insert this smartcard. Or contact Canal Digitaal/TV Vlaanderen for the CAM803 (CI+ module with integrated electronic smart card).
Its predecessor, the CAM701 (also a module with an integrated electronic smartcard), also works perfectly in this receiver.

Apps
The Android operating system of this RE-8401UHD S-PVR means that numerous ‘apps’ are or can be installed on it.
The most important pre-installed app is our own ‘rbxTV‘ app.
This offers the complete DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite) environment, within which everything is controlled such as scanning channels, watching TV, recording, playback, etc.
Off course we offer full support for this app.
Let’s put it briefly: We cannot provide support for other pre-installed apps, or apps that you can install yourself.
This concerns third-party apps, for which we cannot guarantee that what works today will also work tomorrow.
Moreover, the ’technical foundation’ of one app is not the same as the other. As a result, it may simply be that one app is compatible and the other is not.
The downloadable manual gives an example of how to install such an app.

Watching and recording TV simultaneously
In combination with the modules mentioned, this is no problem for the Rebox RE-8401UHD S-PVR.
And even though this receiver is a single tuner, so you have one transponder/frequency at your disposal, the possibilities are still considerable.
Because one transponder contains more channels than the other, here are a few examples of what you can watch at the same time if you make a recording of a channel with a certain frequency.

Example 1:
Recording an NPO1 program (transponder/frequency 12187) =>
Can simultaneously watch: NPO3, Veronica, NET5, VRT1, Canvas, Comedy Central, BBC First, Paramount Network, Nickelodeon, 24Kitchen, MTV NL, TV Oranje, Omroep Brabant, TV Gelderland, TV Drenthe, TV Oost, TV Noord, Omroep Fryslan

Example 2:
Recording an NPO2 program (transponder/frequency 11739) =>
Can simultaneously watch: SBS6, Star Channel, Filmbox, Canal+ Action, ESPN4, Fightbox, Disney Channel, CD Info, TravelXP, Mezzo, 192TV, ONS, NPO Politics

Example 3:
Recording an RTL4 program (transponder/frequency 11856) =>
Can simultaneously watch: RTL5, RTL7, RTL8, RTLZ, ESPN3, Crime+ Investigation, Nautical Channel, Dreamworks.

(The mentioned frequencies plus associated channels are the situation as of April/2024, but can of course be changed by the provider at any time)

Storage medium
By default, the ‘8401’ is set to write recordings to a 128GB (max) Micro SD Card. The receiver is therefore available in 2 flavors. One without, and one with a 128GB card.
A Micro SD Card is faster and less vulnerable than a conventional eHDD, although it can also be used (as long as it is of the USB 2.0 type, max 1TB, and does not require more than 500mA).
You can format it from the menu, because only then you make it suitable for making recordings correctly.

Note
Depending on which browser you use, the video will play in it, or not.
If it’s not playing, just press on “Downloaden”, to watch the video locally on your computer/tablet/etc.

Software updates | Rebox Device Management System
Improvements/changes, new functionality, etc etc, results in a new software update. We make this available for download from our Support menu, and you can install it using a USB stick.
If you have registered (free) for our Remote Support system (see: Support/8401 Remote Support), and the type of update allows it, we can also provide your receiver with new software remotely.
